It’s interesting how one of Washington’s least liked individuals is making strides to improve his image. Whether it’s purposeful or to better fill his own pockets–per usual–Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder teamed up the NRG Energy to equip FedEx Field in Landover, MD with 8,000 solar panels. The solar panels, creating what has come to be known as Solar Bowl, will provide enough energy to fulfill 100% of the stadium’s energy needs on non-game days and 20% of its needs during game day. The project officially completed during halftime during today’s game against the Arizona Cardinals (which the Redskins won, 22-21). Former Redskins quarterbacks Joe Theismann and Mark Rypien flipped the switch to bring it on (the system that is). The Washington Redskins are now solar powered and powered by the first 2-0 start since 2007. HAIL YEAH!
